Most Reliable Prestigers & Movesets Against Common Gym Defenders in Pokemon GO

I just had to post this list of great prestigers if you like dodging, meaning you can use less bulky Pokémon to beat an opponent quicker. However, many of you pointed out that they prefer more balanced Pokémon so they don't risk fainting even though it may be slower.

So here's a list of Pokémon that will beat common defenders with minimal risk of fainting even if you don't dodge (although it's always a good idea to try and dodge special moves unless your CP is high).

Dragonite: Steel + Dragon
  1. Dewgong: Frost Breath / Ice Shard + Blizzard
  2. Lapras: Frost Breath / Ice Shard + Blizzard / Ice Beam

  3. Wartortle / Blastoise: Water Gun + Hydro Pump
  4. Golem: Mud Shot + Earthquake
Exeggcutor: Psychic + Grass

  3. Tangela: Vine Whip + Solar Beam
  4. Vileplume: Razor Leaf + Solar Beam
Poliwrath: Water + Fighting
  1. Venusaur / Ivysaur: Vine Whip + Solar Beam
  2. Parasect: Bug Bite + Solar Beam
  3. Slowpoke / Slowbro: Confusion + Psychic
  4. Vileplume: Razor Leaf + Solar Beam
Slowbro: Psychic + Psychic
  1. Parasect: Bug Bite + Solar Beam
  2. Tangela: Vine Whip + Solar Beam
  3. Lickitung: Lick + Hyper Beam
  4. Wigglytuff: Pound + Hyper Beam
Venusaur: Grass + Grass
  1. Charizard: Wing Attack / Ember + Fire Blast / Flamethrower
  2. Golbat: Wing Attack (double type resistance)
  3. Pidgeot: Wing Attack + Hurricane
  4. Arcanine: Fire Fang + Fire Blast
Venusaur: Grass + Poison
  1. Golbat: Wing Attack (double type resistance)
  2. Charizard: Wing Attack / Ember + Fire Blast / Flamethrower
  3. Pidgeot: Wing Attack + Hurricane
  4. Arcanine: Fire Fang + Fire Blast
This list uses kukui's dueling metric, which considers offense and tankiness equally although this may not be the best option in some circumstances. For example, an Arcanine with Fire Fang and Fire Blast will beat a Venusaur quicker than a Golbat of the same CP and probably won't die, however Golbat will have a greater % health remaining due to it's double resistance. So while Golbat is the safer option, Arcanine is more efficient and still quite safe.
