When someone sniff something about a possible Call of Duty title coming this 2016, many articles just suddenly popped out of nowhere and the worst are those claiming that the new COD title will be Ghosts 2. What?! Hell NO!
Just by looking at previous CODs, the game is becoming towards a more "sci-fi" kind of game. From Modern Warfare and then to the latest Black Ops 3, you could tell that the game is pushing through the future. And, we think that Infinity Wards will continue this trend and not go back to the old Ghosts. We guess that it will be towards the near future!
Now, on NeoGAF, proven industry insider, shinobi602 has said that the new game's future setting "makes Black Ops 3 feel like the stone age". When asked if he meant the game would be in the style of Battlefield 2142, he simply replied: "Very far future. Space Combat. Full on sci-fi."
In addition, Eurogamer followed up the story by saying that it had independently heard similar details, adding that it will not be a direct sequel to Infinity Ward's last game, Ghosts.
Shinobi is very known to have correctly announced that Black Ops 3 would feature wall-running, characters with robotic limbs and cybernatics, and be developed for Xbox 360 and PS3 by a second studio. So possibly, his announcement on the COD title this 2016 will be 100% true also.
But for now, let's just sit back and wait as the next Call of Duty has been confirmed for E3 this year, despite Activision not having an official booth at the show.
2016's Call of Duty will be released in Q4 of this year, and is expected to launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
