10 + 2 Simple Tips to Further Improve Your Website

You may have a great layout design and great content on your blog/website but you can't deny the fact that you can still improve it. So, I have been searching for ways to further improve my website and I bumped into Amit Agarwal's website labnol.org. The things he shared was really simple and can be done by any website owner but the rewards are really great. He gave 10 simple tricks to improve a website and I honestly, it does help a lot in terms of giving better user usability.

So, I want to share to you these simple tips on how to improve a website.

10 Things You Should Include on Your Website (by Amit Agarwal)

1. Build a Windows Live Tile

With Windows 8.1, people can pin your website as a live tile on to their Windows start screen. This is a live tile so it will automatically pull new stories from your site’s RSS feed and may even show them as notifications.

Go to buildmypinnedsite.com, upload your site’s logo, add your RSS feed URL and it will generate the meta tags that you can put in the HEAD of your website temmplate. See Scott Hanselman’s blog for the more technical details.

2. Add OpenSearch to your Site

Most web browsers now let you search any website directly from the address bar without having to go through Google. For instance, in Google Chrome, you can type a website URL (like labnol.org), press the TAB key and then enter your search query to find related pages from that website.

You can link to the OpenSearch XML (see example) from your site’s HEAD and your site’s search engine will automatically get added to the user’s browser when they visit your site the next time. The Chromium website has more details how you can include OpenSearch in your website.

3. Add a humans.txt file

You know about robots.txt but the other text file that is also gaining popularity is humans.txt. You need to place the file in the root directory of your website (see example) and it is expected to contain information about the different people who are behind that website.

Humans.txt files are totally optional but big websites like Google and Flickr have created one. See humanstxt.org to learn more.

4. Include Touch Icons for iOS & Android

You should upload touch icons for your website and these will be used when someone places a shortcut of your website on their mobile homescreen. The touch icons may have your site’s logo or even the initials so that users can instantly relate them with your brand.

Use the iconogen tool to generate the various touch icons for Android and Apple devices. You can even go with a single touch icon and use redirection as mentioned in the WordPress optimization guide (see #12).

5. Add the Homescreen Call out

If you have ever visited the Google Maps website on your iPad, you may have seen a prompt that points to the share button of the Safari browser inviting you to add a shortcut to the Maps website on the iOS homescreen.

You can include similar functionality in your own website with this JavaScript widget. It works for the both iOS Safari and Chrome on Android and the messages can be shown in many languages.

6. Allow RSS Auto-discovery

RSS feeds are alive and there’s a section of Internet users who still prefer to read stories in their RSS Clients.

If your site offers RSS feeds, you need to include them in your website’s header so that browsers and RSS clients can auto-discover and subscribe to your feeds. All you have to do is include this line of code anywhere between the <head> tag of your website template.
<link href="Feed URL" rel="alternate" title="Blog Title" type="application/rss+xml"></link>
7. Implement Google+ Authorship

If you haven’t connected your website to Google+ yet, do it now.

There are at least two advantages – one, your profile picture will start appearing in Google search results next to your articles (which may improve click-through rates) and second, Google may put more trust on articles tied to verified online profiles and it could mean better search rankings.

8. Insert the Frame Breaker

Some websites that link to you may display your pages inside an IFRAME when those links are clicked. About.com does this and the previous version of Digg would also display external links inside a browser frame.

Since you cannot figure out which websites are embedding your site’s pages inside IFRAMEs, it may be a good idea to altogether prevent this from happening. Just add this JavaScript snippet anywhere in your code.
<script type="text/javascript">
  if (window.top !== window.self) {
     window.top.location = window.self.location;
  }
</script>
9. Put QR Codes in your Print Stylesheet

Yes, people do print web pages but the problem with printed pages is that there no easy way to link the paper with the source. How does someone know where a page was printed from?

That’s where QR Codes can help. With a little tweak to your print CSS, QR Codes will get appended whenever someone prints a page from your site. Later this QR code can be scanned to open the original webpage on a mobile device.

10. Publish your Website in the Chrome Store

Google Chrome has millions of users worldwide and you’ll surprised to learn how easy it is to write a Chrome app for your website that you can publish in the Chrome web store.

It takes 5 minutes to write an app, an app will increase your website’s visibility and you need not be programmer to do that.

Bonus tip: Impress the Geeks

While you are on the Flipkart website, open your Chrome Developer Tools and switch to the console window. You may see a message inviting you to apply for a job at that company.

You can include the console.log() method of JavaScript to display such nerdy messages to people who are trying to scrap your website.

Wait, don't just leave yet. I have something to add. Based from my experience blogging for almost 10 years now, it seems that users tend to browse much on their mobile devices. As we all know, smartphones and tablets are a trend right now and honestly, it is much easier to browse on these gadgets and also, it more comfortable as you can browse while on the go. So basically, website owner shoould ensure that your website is mobile friendly.

So how can you make your website mobile-friendly?

I'll make this simple. Search your website on google with your mobile device and, if you see their if your website is mobile-friendly or not. If it is, then you have no problem but if it is not, then you need to make it mobile-friendly a.s.a.p.

One way to make your website mobile-friendly is of course select a theme for your website that is mobile-friendly. Wether you buy it or make it, you should do it now as you may be losing viewers by now.

Generic PVE Build for Flurry in Dragon Nest [T4]

Here's a base PVE build for Flurry on Dragon Nest which was created by fourrier. The build will focus basically on the generic pve build for a Flurry in the game, which includes skill build, the heraldry you should take, some general information on Flurry and many more.

So without further ado, let's start the guide.

Generic PVE Skill Build for Flurry:
Lancea Tree
Default unlocked :
- Half cutting
- Flash Lift
- Probe
- Push Kick
- Deep Pierce
- Tumble

Unlock :
Headbutt (1 SP)
Cross Cutter(3 SP)
Counter Spin (1 SP)
Flee (1 SP)
Aerial Evasion (1SP)
Physical Mastery (1 SP)
Mental Mastery (1 SP)
Mind Conquer (1 SP)

Hornet Touch (3 SP)
Harmonize (0 SP)
Total : 13 SP

Level up : Tumble Lv5 (+4 SP)
Cross Cutter Lv11 (+10 SP)
Flee Lv5 (+4 SP)
Aerial Evasion Lv4 (+3 SP)
Physical Mastery Lv7 (+6 SP)
Mental Mastery Lv7 (+6 SP)
Mind Conquer Lv6 (+ 5 SP)
Total : 38 SP

Headbutt
0 sec CD skills. Great for mobility and triggering vulnerability status.

Cross cutter
The most damaging physical attack skill in base Lencea tree. You'll get additional 25% board damage when you level it to level 6.
Lv 1 : 347% + 12
Lv11 : 493% + 2505
Lv21 : 639% + 23488
Lv26 : 712% + 41135

Hornet's Touch
Unlocking this may be arguable for PvE. If you like to play parry -> counter, unlock this.
Otherwise you can save 3 SP from it.
Piercer Tree
Shutter Bounce Lv16
Bread and butter from the Flurry tree. With 12 secs CD, this skill is spammable.
If you have a rare grade costume, you can save 1 SP by choosing Shutter Bounce from the weapon costume.
Camera can be rotated before you land the 2nd hit.
Cannot be cancelled by tumble.

Stab Screw Lv1
The base damage and damage growth doesn't make the SP spending worth it on this skill. Leave
it at level 1

Spinning Cut down Lv16
Good damage at full charge (2633% + 132638).

Lollipop Chop Lv15+1
Great counter skill with iframe. Damage is great too (2677% + 69743).
Recommended to get +1 Lollipop Chop earring and CD heraldry for this skill.
Lv15 : Phy dmg 2401% + 52832
Lv15+1 : Phy dmg 2677% + 69743

Spinning Swing Lv13
Great damage potential with the EX (3944% + 126976).
One of the best skills to trigger Vulnerable Status because it deals 5 hits per swing. But also because of that, you may cancel/skip the right click by doing Spinning Skewer.

Fling Sky (Flurry's Ulti)
Induce non-clearable Vulnerable status for 5 seconds.

FATIGUE TREE:

Erratic Power Lv6
2-in-1 FD +55% and action speed +15% buff.
Not recommended to get the +1 Erratic Power earring, because Lv7 only gives 5% FD increase and 1% action speed increase. +1 Lollipop Chop earring is a better option.

Scar Maker Lv5+1
Recommended to get the +1 Scar Maker necklace to increase the field radius from 3m to 4m. At level 6, the attack buff potential is very close to Bringer's Healing Chakra. (45% vs 48.6%)

Will Maker Lv5+1
Recommended to get the +1 Will Maker ring to increase the field radius from 3m to 4m. At level 6, the damage reduction provided is decent(30%). Not as high as LF's Healing Chakra EX(50%), but it's better than Saint's Healing Relic EX. (20%)

Flag Lv1
Good for mobility. Increased level doesn't increase CD. The damage is also not worthwhile. So you just need to leave it at level 1.
The fatigue generated is usually cleared when you touch the ground (assuming you are not on Erratic Power mode)

Buzz off Lv1
Counter attack when flinched, just unlock it

Rushing Blade Lv1
Good for mobility.
Flurry Tree
Spinning Skewer Lv4
Your main DPS skill.
With Vulnerable Status on target, you will deal 6963% damage on it.
You can cancel any skill with Spinning Skewer as long as you are grounded.
+1 Spinning Skewer necklace is arguable, because the difference with +1 Scar Maker necklace is very small. While the +1 Spinning Skewer necklace only benefit yourself, the +1 Scar Maker Necklace can benefit the other party members.

Rough Sweep Lv6
Getting it to level 11 is arguable because the damage increase is incredibly small (most likely bugged).
Lv 1: 948% + 14353
Lv 6 : 1161% + 27932
Lv11: 1275% + 44001
But if you have spare SP from your optional build, you can spend another 5 here.

Shutter Bounce EX
The 30% board damage increase is imbued on the 2nd hit of Shutter Bounce.

Stab Screw EX
The additional -20% critical resist debuff for 15 secs is very useful on level 80 content.

Spinning Cut Down EX
The EX allows you to release stage 3 charging damage with just stage 2 duration charging. However, the hit area will be changed from circular to frontal only

Spinning Swing EX
Increases 3 total swings to 5. If you do 4 left click + 1 final right click, the damage potential is doubled from the non-EX version

Rough Sweep EX
Creates a shockwave at the final hit of Rough Sweep. The shockwave damage can be as strong as 15%, 30%, or 100% of the main hit depending on how far you travel.

The 32 spare SP can be used to get these options :

1. More mobility/ manuverability (12 SP)
Unlocking your Sting Breezer skills until Fling Fling can give you better mobility / manuverability.
- Piercing Spike has iframe during the jump. It can also be casted in mid air, allows you to get more air time.
- Fling Fling also can be casted in mid air, and allow you to gain some distance.

2. Maxed out Headbutt or Cross Cutter (15SP)
In paper, Headbutt's DPS exceed Cross Cutter due to being 0 second CD skill.
It also works very well as Vulnerable status trigger when all other physical skills are in CD.
But because you spam it, the MP consumption could be very high.
Cross Cutter provides the highest damage in base Lencea tree. With 25% increase on board damage, the DPS is very close to Shutter Bounce EX lv16.

3. Maxed out Rough Sweep or Maxed out Shutter Bounce (5 or 3 SP)
All other skills usually have the increment from 6 to 11 similar to 1 to 6. But Rough Sweep damage increase from lv1 to lv6 is very small.
Shutter bounce also doesn't get that much of increase going from lv16 to lv19+2. But at least it's better than Rough Sweep.

4. Maxed out Stab Screw (15SP)
If you don't like any of those options above, then the rest of SP can just be dumped in Stab Screw.
But honestly, this skills damage number is so bad that even Cross Cutter can do better damage with half of the CD.

The Skill Heraldry for a Flurry:

1. Harmonize CD
Why not duration plate? Because 20 seconds is enough to burst on any recent content's DPS window. The buff-wiping fiesta is most likely happens before you pass the 20 seconds mark.
"But it won't sync with Genie CD!"
You can control the casting whether or not you wish to sync with Kali's Genie. But not every party (especially 4-man) have Kali in them.

2. Spinning Swing AS
Nothing much to explain here, see the video of comparison to see how much difference it can make.
3. Lollipop Chop CD
See the general notes on why damage heraldry is not preferable.

4. Spinning Skewer CD
See the general notes on why the damage heraldry is not preferrable.
With CD plate, it's possible for you to fire 1 more Spinning Skewer under Fling Sky's permanent vulnerable status in conjunction with BT.
Less CD on this skill also reduce the cases where you find the Vulnerable status already triggered, but your Spinning Skewer is still on CD.

Extra heraldry slot:
If you have the optional heraldry opened, then you may add these into the 3 slots

Stab Screw CD
You can have the -20% crit resist debuff fulltime if you keep spamming this

Fling Sky CD
Faster Fling Sky rotation = more guaranteed vulnerable status. But it's probably irrelevant if you have FU in your party, for you may want to sync them with BT.
Spinning Cut Down CD
nothing much to say here

General Notes on Flurry:

1. Gameplay and vulnerable status
- Flurry's damage dealing routing revolve on triggering Vulnerable status on target and hitting them with Spinning Skewer.
- Only physical attack skill can trigger Vulnerable status. Magical skills do not trigger Vulnerable status.
- The vulnerable status coming from level 65 passive is cleared once your Spinning Skewer deals fatal damage. But the Vulnerable Status induced by Fling Sky's (Flurry's Ultimate) is not cleared when you strike the target with Spinning Skewer, making it the core debuff skill when you have Beyond Time buff.

2. Lencea is the fastest walking class
Spamming Headbutt (0 second CD) is actually faster than walking with weapon sheathed!

3. Damage heraldry are not preferred
Erratic Power's FD is additive to damage heraldry. So your damage increase from choosing the damage heraldry is merely 0.2/1.55 = 12.9%. This number is getting even lower to around 7.8% as your total FD from gear is getting closer to 100%.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Cheats on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One & Xbox 360

There are no Resident Evil: Revelations 2 cheats on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 & PC yet. So until they are discovered. This page on Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is made to help you with tips and tricks for the game!

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Tips and Tricks
These developer Q&A interviews bring forth a lot of tips about the main characters.

Updating Claire:

Ever since she set foot in Raccoon City, Claire Redfield has been one of the most popular characters in the Resident Evil universe. As an audience surrogate, she helped us feel fear where others may have confidently stood their ground; as a prisoner on Rockfort island, she proved even “untrained” civilians could hold their own in a desperate, BOW-ridden scenario.

In Revelations 2, Claire continues her personal journey, growing into a capable, seasoned member of NGO Terra Save. In this organization she helps those who’ve suffered from BOW attacks, which would seemingly take her out of the direct line of fire. However, as the opening of Revelations 2 has already shown us, Claire still isn’t safe…

To discuss her growth and role in Revs 2, we met with three key members of the development team in Japan. They outline where Claire is when game begins, how she may grow throughout the story and how she and Moira learn to trust each other. Check out the video and hear what they had to say!
Updating Barry:

Here's a guide on how to update fan-favorite hero Barry Burton for 2015. Barry (and his daughter Moira) co-star in Resident Evil Revelations 2.

How to Set Expiration Dates & Temporarily Share Google Drive Files & Folders

I just want to share something neat to my fellow techies out there! Last night as I was using my Google Drive and while searching for answers on Google on how to temporarily share folders to other Google Drive users, I have bumped into Labnol's website and learned that not only you can share a file temporarily to other users but, you can also set an expiry date on it.

It's really a great trick as you will obtain privacy on that shared folder once again, right after 24 hours. For those who doesn't know yet, Google Drive will let you share folders and files to other Google Drive users and it will be shared to them permanently. Some users (like me) would love to have the option to share a file temporarily for private reason and security purposes and thanks to Amit Agrawal, I can do that now.

Now let me share to you what I have learned...

Set Expiration Dates & Temporarily Share Google Drive Files & Folders

You have a file or folder in Google Drive that you have shared either with Public or with a specific set of users. You can specify a date and time when you want the shared links to expire.

The script will run at the specific time and remove all the sharing permissions from your file or folder making them private and the shared links would no longer work. Here’s how you can use the script.
  1. Click here to make a copy of the Google Script into your Google Drive.
  2. Add the URL (link) of your shared Google Drive folder or any file hosted on Google Drive in Line #3 and put expiration date in Line #7 (remember to use the YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM format).
  3. Open the File menu, choose Project Properties and select your Timezone from the dropdown. The date and time that you set in the script will use this timezone.
4. Go to the Run menu, choose Start and authorize the auto-expiry script to run at the specified time. This is open-source Google Script and none of your data is shared with anyone. That’s it. You can close the Google Script editor window and it will automatically disable the sharing options for the specified file or Drive folder at the specified date and time. You can even specify sub-folders that are anywhere in the Drive Tree.

How To Unlock Vegito
Unlock Method: Complete a Parallel Quest between numbers 40-47.

Successfully doing this will unlock “Vegito (Base, Super Vegito)”.

How To Unlock Goku Super Saiyan 4
Unlock Method: Complete every single Parallel Quest in the game.

Successfully doing this will unlock “Goku [GT] (Super Saiyan 4)”.

How To Unlock Bardock
Unlock Method: The Bardock, Father of Goku, Secret Mission is from the Legendary Super Saiyan Saga, which can only be played after the final boss Demigra is defeated and you cleared the game.

Another requirement is to unlock all five shards* (full details at the asterix below). After doing that you can go to Trunks in the Scroll area and he’ll take you on a trip to do two different quest chains. So you’ll need these shards to be able to play the two Secret Missions in the first place!

The first saga is Bardock’s Saga, which is pretty difficult due to the high number of enemies, and the fact that you have to babysit Bardock. Completing it unlocks the “Bardock (Base, Super Saiyan)” character for you in VS mode.

*How to get all 5 shards: After clearing the game you’ll receive the “Crystal of Time” and there are five pieces to collect.
You can unlock the shards by completing the following:
– 1st Shard: Defeat Quest 3 of the Demigra Saga.
– 2nd Shard: Speak with Recon at “Time Square”.
– 3rd Shard. Perfect Parallel Quest 49 “The Saiyans Rebellion”.
– 4th Shard: In Parallel Quest 14 “The Legendary Super Saiyan” defeat Goku, or defeat Ginyu in Goku’s body during Parallel Quest 18 “Ginyu Corps Return”.
– 5th Shard: Perfect Parallel Quest 2 “Get ready for the Saiyan Invasion!”, or Defeat Super Saiyan Goku in Parallel Quest 21 “Let the Cell Games Begin!”.

How To Beat The Bardock Secret Mission: In this video guide it’s shown how to complete Bardock’s Saga.
How To Unlock Broly
Unlock Method: The Legendary Super Saiyan Broly Secret Mission is from the Legendary Super Saiyan Saga, which can only be played after the final boss Demigra is defeated and you cleared the game, and after beating the Bardock mission from the same Legendary Super Saiyan Saga.

Another requirement is to unlock all five shards* (full details at the asterix below). After doing that you can go to Trunks in the Scroll area and he’ll take you on a trip to do two different quest chains. So you’ll need these shards to be able to play the two Secret Missions in the first place!

After completing the first saga, Bardock’s Saga… The second saga is the Broly Saga, where you take on Broly in order to save the universe. Completing both Secret Missions unlocks the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly character for you in VS mode.

How To Beat The Broly Secret Mission: In this video guide it’s shown how to complete Broly’s Saga.

How To Unlock Gogeta Super Saiyan 4
Unlock Method: You can use the Shenron wishes to unlock Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta! To get a wish granted by Shenron, you’ll need to collect all 7 of the Dragon Balls each time. Dragon Balls are rewards from the Parallel Quests, after completion check in the bag you have by pressing the RB/R1 button.

Important Note: Unlike what you may be expecting, the missions where you collect the Dragon Balls don’t actually give you any Dragon Balls. Instead, you need to play Parallel Quests, and the ones that have secret objectives have a chance to spawn Time Patrollers; beat them and there is a chance for Dragon Balls to drop from their loot table. — It’s rather random and it does take a bit of farming. But it’s not very difficult, just very time consuming.

How To Get The Dragon Balls and Summon Shenron: This video guide shows how to collect all 7 Dragon Balls in Dragon Ball Xenoverse and then summon the eternal dragon Shenron to make a wish! You get one wish for each time you summon the Dragon. To summon Shenron again and make another wish, the 7 Dragon Balls need to be collected again.

The Steps To Dragon Ball Farming:
• Step 1: Go to Parallel Quest 2 (offline or online is both ok).
• Step 2: Pick any character.
• Step 3: Beat Yamcha, Tien, and Krillin.
• Step 4: When the portal opens, look for the random Time Patroller. The one you might look different from the one in the video. That’s because they usually change appearance after each encounter.
• Step 5: Go up to the Time Patroller and accept his challenge for a fight. Then beat him.
• Step 6: You should get two messages after beating the Time Patroller. One for getting a material item and one for getting an important item.
• Step 7: Go through the portal and beat Gohan, Piccolo, and Goku if he appears. Afterwards when you’re done, you’ll receive the Dragon Ball.

Alternate Mission to try this in: Mission number 15 appears popular to farm Dragon Balls as well. It’s the “Defeat 100% power Frieza” Mission.

The Time Patroller Appearance Conditions Are:
A) You have to beat Frieza quickly, the Time Patroller has been seen showing up at about a minute in.
B) It also appears you need to get an S or Z rank.
C) And then a Time Patroller can show up, since any quest with a portal can have a Time Patroller, but it’s not guaranteed.

How To Unlock Super 17
Unlock Method: You can use the Shenron wishes to unlock Super 17! To get a wish granted by Shenron, you’ll need to collect all 7 of the Dragon Balls each time. Dragon Balls are rewards from the Parallel Quests, after completion check in the bag you have by pressing the RB/R1 button.

How to Find and Remove your Inactive Followers from Twitter

Fellow website owner will agree when we say that Twitter is one of the most reliable social media today to share our post and get it trending within a couple of minutes (if the topic is interesting that is). However, you may have many follower but, are you sure that they see your tweets?

You may have many followers on Twitter but are you sure that they are all active, and not just Twitter Eggs?

Twitter Eggs are those who don't really have an active twitter account. They are registered on Twitter but don't Tweet a lot, or don't tweet at all, they don't have many followers and they have an egg logo as their profile pic. They don't read your tweet so why bother have them as your followers? Best that you remove them.

So how can you remove these Twitter Eggs? Check out below some simple Google Script created by Amit Agarwal which will allow you to see all Twitter Egg Followers.

Note: Wondering how the script finds the egg profiles? No, it doesn't do any magic image matching, it merely looks at the URL of the Twitter avatar – it there’s the word “default” in the URL, it means the underlying image is that of an egg. Simple.

If you are curious to know how many eggs follow you on Twitter, here’s a Google Script that will help. It will read your Twitter followers and if any of them have eggs as a profile picture, it will log an entry into a Google Spreadsheet. Here’s how you can get started:
  1. Click here to copy the Google Script in your Google Drive. If you are getting an error that “there are currently too many people viewing this file” error, try this mirror.
  2. Replace amit@labnol.org with your own email address (the report will be sent here) and labnol with your own Twitter handle.
  3. Go to the Run menu and choose Step 1 – Authorize. The script will ask for certain permissions and you need to choose Accept at the authorization prompt.
  4. Open the Run menu again and choose Step 2 – Run to initialize the script. That’s it.
You can now close the Google Script window. The script runs in the background and it will send you an email once it has extracted all the eggs from your Twitter account. This is an open-source Google script that uses the Twitter API to get your followers.
