Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will be released for $40 on September 25, 2015 for 3DS. It is an all-new spin-off title in the Animal Crossing franchise, one of two announced (the other being Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival for Wii U) at Nintendo’s E3 2015 Press Conference.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (first revealed during Nintendo’s April 2015 Nintendo Direct broadcast) is not a full-fledged Animal Crossing title, but it does look like a very indepth experience; one that will certainly make most Animal Crossing fans happy. It will also make full use of the Animal Crossing: Amiibo trading cards, which will launch alongside the system.
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for 3DS has more in common with the core Animal Crossing games than the upcoming Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival for Wii U (which is essentially a multiplayer, Mario Party-style digital board/party game) so fans should get a more satisfying experience here.
The goal in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is not to collect bugs, search for fossils, deliver presents, fish, run errands, or any of that.
Instead, the entire focus of the game is on interior design!
For the first time in the series, you will get to actually design the homes that your animal villagers live in!
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will hit stores in both physical & digital form on September 25th, 2015; so this will apparently be a full-on experience and not a shallower, digital 3DS eShop-exclusive, as it will be getting a hardcopy release (and is available for pre-order now from Amazon, GameStop & Best Buy in the U.S., and Walmart, Best Buy & Amazon in the UK).
In Japan, an Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer 3DS XL System Bundle was also announced, that contains the game and the system with an Animal Crossing theme. No word on whether or not we will get the system bundle in the West, but given how much of a cash cow Animal Crossing is for Nintendo, I wouldn’t be surprised if they used Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer to sell more “New 3DS XL” systems by bundling the game with the system for the holiday/Christmas 2015 season.
